Venue #4: Arlene's Grocery!

Hello everyone!

I hope each and every one of you has been enjoying their weekend....I'm sure this will help make the weekend even better! In keeping with some of the coolest NYC clubs around, check out Arlene's Grocery today!

Also, feel free to contact us at bringbdtoec@gmail.com with any questions or comments you may have, or even just to say hi! Remember, we want our boys here, so any feedback you can give us would be great.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend and keep checking back to see some of the venues we share with you this week!

Arlene's Grocery:

95 Stanton Street
New York, NY 10002
(212) 358-1633

Booking:

To be considered for a booking at Arlene's Grocery you need to send an email request to julia@arlenesgrocery.net. The content of your email should include links to web pages. MySpace generally freezes any computer, so if you have sonicbids, bandcamp, soundcloud, Facebook (only if you have music on this page) use THOSE instead.

Let us know the dates you are interested in as well as a contact phone number. We do not accept attachments. We do not review CD or EP demos, press packages, etc. sent by snail mail or dropped off at the club. We are unable to respond to every request or follow-up inquiry, but we do review all submissions and will contact you if we have an appropriate opening to offer. If you haven't heard from us after 14 days and would like to re-submit your request, feel free to do so. The folks at Arlene's Grocery appreciate your interest in performing at our club and look forward to hearing from you and listening to your music.

History:

Arlene's Grocery (yes, it was a grocery) opened its doors in 1995 - breaking ground in the then treacherous Lower East Side. Upcoming bands flocked to the seedy neighborhood to experience the sonic beauty of the smaller 150-capacity room which played host to garage rock, punk, and bohemian newcomers, such as Jeff Buckley.

In the late 1990's the club branched into the butcher shop next door and became two rooms under one roof. As the neighborhood gentrified around them, the Lower East Side became the hub of NYC rock. The club hired a Live Rock N Roll Karaoke band who became an instant hit in the city, attracting New Yorkers and tourists from all over the globe to catch a glimpse of celebrities, such as Moby, belting out AC/DC. Shortly after, Arlene's garnered more attention - becoming home to The Strokes, and then booking a residency by The Bravery, which would land the band a deal, and propel them to fame.

As a handful of live music clubs pop up (and down) around the area, Arlene's holds fast to its intention of nurturing unsigned bands; its attention to the highest quality sound; and remaining an institution in the NYC rock scene.

Venue #2: Joe's Pub

Hello all!

I hope you enjoyed checking out Webster Hall as our first venue. If you do have any questions or comments about said venue, please do contact us at BringBDtoEC@gmail.com. But enough about Webster Hall for now, let's get to what we're all here for: bringing the boys to the East Coast!

While the first venue was geared more towards the adults, but I do believe an all-ages venue is in order, so take a look at Joe's Pub!

(A little fun fact: Darren Criss from Glee just performed here!)

Enjoy!

***If a band that you represent wishes to play at Joe's Pub, feel free to send an inquiry to  bookings@joespub.com , telling us more about your performance group, their draw in the New York area and where they currently play in NYC. Please DO NOT send press kits or CDs, as we are not accepting unsolicited submissions at this time.

Emailing bookings@joespub.com is the primary way to contact us. When emailing, please put the artist name and month you are looking for a show in the subject.

Make sure to include information about your performance, NYC history, links to your website and myspace, what date range you are interested in and what shows you have currently booked so we can have a chance to see you live.

Please be patient when emailing bookings@joespub.com . We receive hundreds of submissions a week and will likely not be able to respond immediately.  If you do not hear back from us after two weeks you can re-send your request.

Please follow-up via e-mail instead of phone calls for a faster response.***

Joe's Pub at The Public Theater debuted in October 1998 and has quickly became one of New York City's most celebrated and in-demand showcase venues for live music and performance. With its genre-blind booking and vast diversity of interests, the stage at Joe's Pub gives voice to a world of varied and stellar artists.

With impeccable sound and lights, the warm and intimate candlelit atmosphere of Joe's Pub is filled with plush velvet couches, softly glowing lucite tables and gorgeously understated architecture. Venue #1: Webster Hall!

First of all, thank you to everyone who read yesterday's post and has been following us on Twitter and Facebook!

In order to get the boys here, now comes the fun part: reaching out to the clubs. Each day will feature a new club, complete with a little background info, a way to contact the venue, and a website to get a better look at the club. We will have weekly polls to see if there are any particular places that you (the fans) like the most!

For our first featured venue: Webster Hall!

If you have any thoughts or comments about this particular venue, comment on the blog itself or e-mail us at bringbdtoec@gmail.com

(Now I know this is geared more towards the adult crowd, but there are many "all ages" clubs as well, so let's try pushing with as many places as we can!)

A Little Introduction to our Project....and how you can help!

Dear Readers,

First of all, welcome to our blog for bringing Bonnie Dune to the East Coast project!

As many of you are aware, ever since Bonnie Dune started performing last January, the fan base has extended WAY beyond the West Coast! (And we sure are glad that Bonnie Dune now exists, bringing us amazing music from some super-talented men.)

Unfortunately, with the West Coast fans reaping all the wonderful benefits of such a talented group, this puts East Coast (and beyond) fans at a disadvantage. Sure, our demands were calmed a little when we were given a concert at Hershey Park in PA to quell the madness....but now we want more! It's about time the East Coast fans had a show right along the coast!

And that's where you, the fans, come in. A few weeks ago, Jared (Bonnie Dune's tour manager) shared that in order to bring the boys to NY, NJ or any other state along the East Coast, fans need to flood venues with inquiries. We need to request the band as much as possible, until those venues are begging for the boys to come play!

Check back here for frequent updates on different venues (and how to contact them!) We'll also be offering weekly polls for venues posted that week, just so you can vote for the ones you like the most.

I know there are many of us already making the efforts to get them here, but why not make it a HUGE collective effort? It's our time to get some Bonnie Dune love, don't you think?

Let's do this!

~The 'Bring BD to EC' Team

P.S. - If you have any venues you'd like to see posted or any other questions/inquiries, please contact us at BringBDtoEC@gmail.com! We would love to hear from you.

P.P.S. - Also to help us in our efforts, please check out Bring Bonnie Dune to your City! The more places we put in requests, the better our chances.
